Chicken Coop Shed

Rebecca & Mike show how they converted one of our Backyard Project Package Sheds into a fantastic chicken coop.

Rebecca & Mike decided they wanted chickens on their rural property. The first step was to construct a chicken coop. They reviewed some prefab kits but quickly realized they needed something bigger to accommodate more chickens. After heading down to their local Home Hardware they hit upon an ingenious solution. They could build one of our Backyard Project Package Sheds and convert it into a chicken coop! This beautiful Two Door Gable Shed Package fit the bill perfectly. The 12’ x 8’ footprint provides ample space for roosting and nesting, and the side door allows their chickens to move freely from inside to outside. That’s where the conversion comes into play. They attached an outdoor enclosure to the side of the shed to function as the chicken run. The chickens can forage and dust-bathe during the day before coming inside at night—all the while safe from predators. The Backyard Project Shed Package includes all lumber and materials, along with detailed construction plans and step-by-step assembly instructions. Mike & Rebecca did all the construction—not bad for a day’s work! Fresh eggs anyone?
